The interval
OAC 3701:1-68-06(D) requires cabinet systems to be evaluated and the results recorded every three months, not to exceed fourteen weeks.
The evaluator must be qualified according to the cabinet-system training and competency provision in OAC 3701:1-68-02(H).
What the evaluation verifies
- Proper functioning of each required interlock.
- Proper functioning of controls, indicators, and warning signals.
- Required labels are legible and properly affixed.
Lockout exception
The recurring evaluation requirement has a specific exception while the system is locked out, tagged DO NOT USE, and under the administrative control of the Individual Responsible for Radiation Protection (IRRP).
A practical facility program should use a compliance calendar that prevents the documented interval from drifting beyond fourteen weeks.
